Last week LinkedIn announced the ten most overused words on resumes.
Words that you use in your LinkedIn profile are likely to appear on resumes, which means the list outlines the buzzwords you should be avoiding when formatting and writing your own resume.
There is sometimes a lack of creativity in being creative when doing your resume and profile.
With that in mind here are the ten words and using football as a reference, words and phrases to replace them with.
Creative............................Playmaker
Organizational...................Good clock management
Effective...........................Great inside the red zone
Motivated.........................Touchdown maker
Extensive experience.........Pro bowler
Track Record...................Hall of fame career
Innovative.........................Game changer
Responsible......................Low turnover rate
Analytical..........................Audibles at line of scrimmage
Problem solving.................Runs a two minute drill well
Of course a lot of words need to be relevant to the position you are seeking. Sometimes you must be creative in showing creativity.
I worked for them in 1977, selling advertising. I won a trip to Boston as the volume leader in my training class. Some great people there. The owner Art Sells, (great name), Bill Zollo (great trainer), Roger Liss (my manager), Rick Rathfon (in my training class) and Tom Volkar (great salesperson).
